old-fashioned baking with a personal touch

Since 2012

I set up Annette's Baking after having my two children. I had worked at Barnbarroch Pottery for over 20 years and still wanted to be creative, so to fit around family life, I launched my home baking business.

The aim of Annette's Baking  is to provide a range of cakes and savouries that are varied and unique, but always with a personal touch.

I was brought up on our family farm and have always lived in this wonderful part of Scotland. My family life inspires me and provides the basis for all my recipes and ideas, bringing back the baking I was brought up with, but with my own twist.

I enjoy making items I personally love eating which includes chocolate and cream, all-butter pastry and rich fillings.

I am different to many other baking businesses as I provide an alternative to butter icing, cup cakes and novelty cakes.

10/10 FROM MICHELIN STAR CHEF GLYNN PURNELL!

In 2017, I took part in a TV cooking competition filmed by Channel 4, called ‘My Kitchen Rules UK.’ Rebecca Hodgson of Treats and Eats Tearoom, Colvend, and I, working together as a team, managed to get through to the quarter finals! Glynn Purnell and Rachel Allen were the main judges and we also had the pleasure of meeting Gizzy Erskine, Thomasina Miers, Paul Ainsworth, Claude Bosi, Allegra McEvedy and Nigel Hogarth, who were all guest judges.

Annette's Baking gains another Great Taste Award!

I am very happy to announce that, further to my success in the 2016 Great Taste Awards where my Chocolate Banana Brownie received a one-star rating with the comments from the judges including, "Very gooey"; "Great natural banana flavour"; and "We really love this", I've been able to repeat this success in the Great Taste Awards 2017! Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘Epicurean equivalent of the Booker Prize’. Quite simply, the Great Taste logo is the sign you can trust when buying food and drink in your local, quality retailer. In the 2017 competition, 12,366 products were entered and I'm very proud to say that my Toffee Fruit Nut Tart won an award! As only 35% of the entries were accredited, my award is even more special.
